FEATURED PRAYERS

PRAYER FOR THE SOLDIER

From heaven, may grace fall upon me with virtue
May my valor be reborn into the light of God
And it a beacon I forsake all to follow
A humble servant that evil can not bind
Let my purpose be pure
And my life be just
Let me walk with kings and bow to the sky
When I knell let heaven hear my cries
And if the devil stands before me
Let heaven then be with me
And if I die, let heaven be where I lye

Written by: Brock Anthony Ventura

PRAYER FOR THE DYING

Let my days on earth measure my faith
And if kings know my name then heaven I’ll take
Be noble and just and let me be judged
But if evil calls then heaven can wait
For I will return to avenge my sins
From fiery death and back from ash again
With virtue as my vengeance, though fragile
It will not falter for I wage war
And leave my blood on God’s stained altar
And though the world may not know my name
His eyes above know my face and I his grace
And to this place from which I came
I shall not return for heaven I will have earned
And to those who seek faith, I pray
Be delivered by your grace
And under my wings be safe

Written by: Brock Anthony Ventura
And under my wings be safe

PRAYER FOR THE BROKEN

Break me oh Lord
Shatter my world
Strip from me my confidence
And let me fight
Feed me to the savage
Let me walk with Thieves
Bring Evil’s ravage
To tempt my sinner’s needs
Let the rage of Devils
Tear me limb from limb
And when all is done
Make me whole again

Reborn by divine grace
Worthy of your tools
No longer prey
To the tongues of Knaves and Fools
Above myself, beyond Earthly charms
Where evil can not bind, broken of Earth’s arms
While Jesters and Clowns dance in Devil’s dens
Bring me to the end where I can bare no more
Build me through the Frey from beneath failure’s floor
Breaking me, waking me, saving me in your heavenly arms
Where my tears cry, I am reborn
And my life, warrants your throne
Prepared to face my purpose and not stray
I beg distant this day
Break me oh Lord, I devoutly pray

Written by: Brock Anthony Ventura

PRAYER FOR THE DEVOUT

In my darkest days I still had you Christ
Regardless the torment bestowed upon me
No moment of torture was as great
As the peace of you with me in those days
It is but by your grace
That the most unknown souls to you, God
Are called to show the most devout of men
The true light of you, Christ
And the hypocrisy of our ways
What mischief complacency creates
Has been my saving grace
Some lost souls need be home to start again
Finding their way by their own hands
But not I Lord
When I pass and the faithful are sorted
Pride shall not laugh, for I will be
One of the devoutly departed

FEATURED POETRY

ONE PEACEFUL NIGHT

Their hands quiet my fight
Beautiful singing delivers me this night
What joy, I remember in my life
Graces every moment of my flight

Their voices shall echo for a thousand years
And I hope, the memory of my life will calm their tears
I’ve held their faces all my days
Proudly, watching them grow from tender age

I shall bless them now, from my home
Free of pain, and my torn body peacefully gone
I will whisper a million loves into their hearts
And be with them, all their days, though apart

And even now my love will not hide
Though I have left them
If they look to the sky
Their hearts are sure to mend
An angel now, I did not bid goodbye
And I hope, they speak to me again

Written by: Brock Anthony Ventura

QUIET THOUGHT

My hands often sing to a melody
My mind often dreams in sleep to create
My soul often screams to me live boldly
My heart often brings truth I rarely take
When all is calmly dark I often speak
Softly in the night for my pen to wake
When in return answers I often seek
Seldom but I all alone claim my state
My tongue echoes delicate woven thread
It is fragile demanding my respect
My voice showers words watering my bed
Still and sweet they comfort my promised debt
And though whispered vitally is my art
My verse from my sullen heart cannot part

FREEDOM FLIGHT

Stale rain kissed upon our weathered souls
Watering our yearning for freedom’s light
The new day woke to quiet morning’s cold
The winds of change spoke our freedom flight
Night was peaceful in its content bliss
Sailing upon star lit sky’s trusted guide
Scared of the day our homeward hearts missed
The melody of our songs abide
Times would turn within the caged bars of steel
Prisoned by misconceptions tainted tool
Different tongues struggled for us to heal
The twisted tyranny of blue coat’s fool
Courts held no ear to our passioned claims
We, property of their now treasured names

STICK AND SAND

Men of vernacular’s foolish lip fought
One man rose to wipe their tarnished eyes
Poetic words spilled on their weathered hearts
Our fait by foreign state begin our sigh
Justice’s bell would not ring for some time
People begin to sing to our hearts strum
Day’s effort would be long to bar a line
Our rhythm’s cry stretched for reason’s son
Men argued our fait on condemned hands action
Through liars faulty lips of savage rage
Our angel then explained by rare fraction
Speaking foreign tongue that closed our cage
Then he with stick and sand awoke my mind
To our souls content it sung of our time

FREEDOM FLAME 9/14/01

Awoke was a nation
Battered, bruised, but not broken
Their eyes whispered tears
And quietly their hearts wept
But their conviction was loudest
From sea to shining sea they sung
And from state to country united they stood
A subtle glance of America was reborn
The experienced acknowledged the young
The young remembered the old
And together they echoed generations
Battlefields rose from their shallow graves
And rekindled the freedom flame
In still night souls prayed
And a nation once under God
Was again this day
And to those who defy this strength
To them, I will not give the privilege of my ink

POETRY: THE SPOKEN SONG

INTRODUCTION

The Words I Write

I write words that the average mind cannot comprehend
And in my genius I create barriers enabling concepts from my hand
To simplify would encourage gratitude of sympathy
But ultimately would discourage my true ability

Let the truth be deep and undiscovered
Let the mind escape reality to uncover
The message beneath the words I write
Let the sheer aspect of thought create illusions of fright

If time and fear can create this understanding
Then forever grateful will I be demanding

MY HEARTS FIRST WHISPER

My heart whispers the words I love you
Quiet as I sleep they wake me to a dream
And through imaginary worlds of hue
I witness a painted sky never seen
In the starlight are glimpses of my life
And as they twist and turn from now to than
Among the shadow light you grace my night
And from my beginning you grace my end
From my first breath I have known this love mine
My heart first whispered, lastly it shall scream
All along your love, not the soft skin that shines
Has always been my quite childhood dream
Now as that child has changed, I know love true
My heart softly whispers to God, thank you

LOVE AWOKE

The night falls as darkness consumes the sky
Insecurity lingers in the mind
Between walls asking one question of why
Resting the head to escape fear of time
Awoke to see only an empty hall
Hearing a sigh of a familiar line
Louder harps of passion begin to fall
In tune with a cry of familiar rhyme
Sincere trust awakes the rustic pale heart
Ones most dreaded fright brings the eyes to cry
Tears rain down on weathered walls as dirt parts
A horizon climbs the darkest of skies
With fear left behind and passion now woke
The foundation of love soon will have spoke

POEMS SHORT FORM

GABRIEL'S TONGUE

Gabriel has no tongue to whisper my thoughts
Indebted to heaven I alone shall weep
Words of wonder to wake spindrift pages sought
By raging moon my homeward heart shall speak

I have witnessed mans decrepit state
Subtle souls softly strangling the meek
For no one can rise when in lost faith
My sky gray to light the blue they seek

Anointed beings of life’s torn wing I beg sing
Wake thy sweet sparrow silence thy nightingale
And I in thorn spirit shall bring
The reverence of my life’s tale

My words shall strike mans ivory stage of heart
And my verse from their subtle soul shall not part

BEETHOVEN'S 9TH

I cannot hear, but still the music plays
Tapping at my will as drummer boys on stage
Silent to my fellow man
The music shall only breathe, as breaths by the strokes of my hand
Symphonies of raw courage, bedded, smothered
Roar through veins begging to be uncovered
“Will you play a song for me,” they say
Insane truth and dismal faith
Louder they play
Harder, faster, slower, silent they lay
Shallow shadows in my quiet world
Instances of cosmic battles, oh how they whirl
Notes scream, melodies speak, instruments I know
Play longer, play shorter, let me go, I plead no

Tonight, I hear a sweet surrender in my sleep
In my heart peace does decided to lie
This symphony shall be mine to keep
It will breathe as the breaths of my life

HIGHLANDER

Standing awaiting morning day
Distant in sea of desert sky crawled to say
Ocean of sweet white sound on eye of thunder play
Silent thy day’s breath
With thy forgotten dreams debt

The mountaintop I have seen you burn
Tears of gold showering mornings yearn
Passion still and stale wearing shallow night
Beneath battles left behind in dust of firelight

Days moving subtle morning’s winter cold
Misting dew standing through eyes open bold
Washing hands by sober moons thunder set
Cleansing soul of forgotten dreams bet

Walking men by loves unconditioned hand
Becoming their soul’s whispered rock to stand

TONIGHT I PONDERED MY LIFE

Tonight I pondered my life evaluating the man I am
And through thoughts of thunder and whirls of wind
Beneath the treacherous dreams I seek I discovered me
Silent in my wisdom, honest in my belief, and proud in my heart
Still I searched for my place to start

I saw an ocean that flowed quiet as the moon refused to shine
I saw birds through silent skies, clear and blue, their faces looked like mine
Free to go wherever they may choose, no restrictions in their flight
Innocent and bold, the world theirs tonight
I wondered is this my life

Than I saw a black sky with a single stars light
Standing alone against millions, it was all I could see this night
In a flash of lighting and a roar of thunder it fell out of sight
I thought is this me with all I have endured
Was there more to strike

Then I saw a loan wolf standing in a winter’s woods
He was scarred, battered, and bruised, but seemed so strong
His eyes filled with courage, I thought why is he alone
Then I saw him run, aggressive gathering a feast
Then he howled sending chills down my spine
My soul trembling, as my thoughts begin to unwind
Proud, confident, at peace, I wondered is this me
But alone, is this how I am meant to be
Then at that moment the confusion within was at peace
When a pack gathered to feast

And then I knew, that is me

HAMLET REVISITED

Innocence becomes bold in silent madness
As walls bear down the sweet bells of church ring
For push or pull of iron ropes to quite their cry
Passion is still when the rock of religion weighs
Striking the soul causing stagnate the sense of ear

In evening light shadows of whisper spill
Soft poison into the garment, which curves
And shortly shall the soul perish moving
From bread to wine to eat and drink

Tyranny of trust lust in its lavish tongue of taste
In corners foreshadowed is the passing
From royalty to church to people evermore
Continue still the message hard to keep
Lost is morbid silent grace
Grace only a father able to wake

So shall it be on the night of a thousand winds
The day when the sky shall kiss the ocean
Will he speak to soften their cries
And the anointed souls, which lay
They, shall wake of truth and fly

DONE TODAY SLEEP TONIGHT

The night quiet, peaceful, and true
It lay silent to morning dew
The day, vibrant, treacherous, and new
It stands alive to evening threw

Early night, remembered day’s events
In satin laid sheets
Late night, forgotten what day once meant
In thought eyes soon see

The eagle, cries, fights, and screams
The owl it out sings
The awoken, soar on broken wing
The asleep they out dream

The night, fragile, honest, and true
It play bold for few
The day, awoke, reborn in perfect hue
It say, what mind always knew

FOREVERMORE

In the darkest of skies the deepest of nights
Beneath the gleam and the brightest of lights
Entangled in a web of unforgiving pain
Entrapped in between walls of sorrow and shame

Beneath the ends of the world
Captured in the souls of each lost boy and girl
Beyond the eyes of the beholder
Within the eyes of their souls turn colder and colder

Scorn with remembrance of the past
Hidden in the walls of darkness within the eyes of their mask
Forbidden by the society of life
Imprisoned between the desire of wrong and right

Destined forevermore
To die within the hands of our Lord

ONLY YOU

No physicality graces thy heart within
For it is here where my love does begin
Pounding softly upon my weathered soul
Struggling to awake indebted passion behold

Imprisoned sigh lingered feeling felt inside
This world blind, thy tainted eye do lie
For only one subtle heart to claim my state
Though twisted my fate she still graced

Passion spoke to touch my silent smile
Innocence woke bold as my silent child
Every feeling every thought she stands by my side
Every whisper of another love slowly died

DOT

Countless dreams often forgot
A child’s eye ask why
A page where lays only one dot
In time there exists a lie
Many now lay
To many to count
Searching each day
Looking for the original font
They soon lose their way

MY SWEET LOVE

Can you hear me sweet love
I am calling in my silent reverie
I dream green fields and a white dove
Will you fly near me, fly near me

Be gentle and hold me this night
Remember my song it calls for you
I play it when you’re in your sleep
Louder I play hoping you’ll hear me

I need you now sweet love
Your hands, your heart
Beat for me beat hopefully for me
Comfort my conscious let my heart speak

Your hands they reach, I see them
They are asking for mine
Can I hold you sweet love
Can I hold your pain, your strength
Can I feel your lips
Oh sweet love I yearn for that kiss

I hear you now, your thoughts your dreams
Remember me sweet love
It will not be long
When you wake in my eyes you’ll have known
My sweet love

LAUDOBUNT MEUS DOMNUS

Waves of color roll over an ocean of canvas
As storms of passion strike the essence of simplicity
The fires settle ill-faded memories of desires
As the winds carry a vapid breath of conscious
To a once forgotten love

The sky opens to a gospel calling
In full cry they sing on deaf ears
Profoundly embracing hope for an awakening
Though the colors, oh the colors how they calm the womb
For these moments of silence keep the sun
In the ache of this instance is a flood of desire
Which runs as vital trains through the tunnel of being
As inspirational burst of thunder arise the silence of wastefulness

The angel asks softly why
Why does the mist of art so great lie somber in a world of genius
Is this to be held in the solitude of one amongst many yearning
Why child, why then does it burn so
Tears cry from the depths of its heart upon the palette of vision
Taste this and feel its strength
Swallow it as it breathes into ravishing vision
As it dances with rapture express it vigorously

Through waves of color rolling over an ocean of canvas
While storms of passion explode to whisper the wonders of why

IN HUMBLED CHORUS

I wake to the sound of a new horizon
In my mind I see the future in an instant
The sky crawls across my tongue
Soft words of love I soon taste

Will they speak a song for you
Will they wake my day a new
Will they hold my heart content
Will they bring me new love sent

Often in my sleep I dream of amazing flight
Wiping through the air of amazing night
Fantastical visions caress my mind
Opening truth left among the air of time

Tonight aboard the horizon of new light
I sail by winds of changing life
Today’s mornings sun spoke a name
In the sleep of mornings eye it spoke of change

Will I rise to new springs humbled child
Will I put summers strength aside
Will I ward off winters inevitable cry
In the autumn of my life will I hold death abide

For some time seasons of learning comforted my soul
Now awoke is the era of teaching it say be bold
Truth will arise to calm times encountered debt
In the day of the sun love shall prove no regret

My mind shall be a poem to inspire the silent page
My heart times ancestor open to infinites age
My soul shall be a painting of endless hue
My passion heavens wage gambled by few

In the era of my time I shall pass all this to you
Your mother and I shall sing a song of love true

DEAD POET

Touch me in such a way to reveal my innocence
Take my hand and guide me through my distinction
Open my eyes to what I have never seen
Open my heart to what I have never dreamed
Awaken me with strokes of an open sea
To have seen better the man will I be
For this night forever remembering
A dead poet breathes in me

TOMORROW TO LOVE YOU

I cannot fight my heart
Tonight it lets me know I am loved
Two rivers run never part
Banks hold true I am moved
When all was subtle and calm
My mind and body at ease
I laid and a tear so warm
Spoke your name to me

For I have never loved as I love you
For direction, hope, strength, and open arms
For all you’ve given, and all you do
For you will always know my love strong
If ever I should slip or be stumbling
For this reason I’ll be back soon
Each night I lay peacefully knowing
There will be tomorrow to love you

QUIET WORDS

Quiet words subtle on their light canvas of song
Splendor whispers dance with raptures silent speaking tone
Telling of finger tips on steel stages
Playing for love’s wages

Lovers lay dancing cares away in moon lit gardens light
Their soft footsteps over bed of clovers echo sweet night
Words raspy ravishing raptures mind
Course talking of forgotten time

Boasting and smiling with lust fashion
A giant’s voice calmed a night of passion
When a content melody played
For creatures of love that strayed

BEYOND THE HORIZON AFTER THE DAY IS GONE

Abandoned against the world outside
The darkness slowly consumes the sky
The sands fill the lands
I walk along through days and nights
I roam the land of time with overwhelming fright
I cannot see where I’m going or where I’ve been
All I know is I must stay strong within
The water that I drink
The food that I eat
They are gone know
So I must not sleep
If my head should lay to escape the fear
Then my death I know shall be near
I must struggle to survive
A hunger and a will inside me must come alive
I live off hope alone
With fait to carry me along
I do not know where I am going
I do not know where I have been
All I know is I believe in God within
As the day goes by
I walk and I walk
Not yet have I died
As the nights fall upon the land
I still stand
In the darkness I see a light so powerful
It seems as if it is calling me
I run like never before
I feel like a man of ten or more
I am no longer hungry or thirsty
I am no longer afraid to die
I run
I run to stay alive
As I near an open field
Of green grass and ponds of water
I kneel
And above the sky of blue
I bow my head
And say thank you

TRUE LOVE

It is beyond the reality of conception
It exceeds the mortal bounds
It temps the unknown
It creates futures
It destroys pasts
Ears cannot hear it
Eyes cannot see it
Touch can barely feel it
It ripens the taste for laughter
It caresses the hunger of contentment
It is true love

GIRL INTERRUPTED

She was interrupted by love
Not tainted but true
Little reasons she only knew
No outside, no walls, no hands
Just cries of freedom
For no ties could bind
An eternity of hope
Today she saw the sky
It was cloudless no sun
No moon just birds of flight
Soaring wings in sweet solitude
At peace with themselves
Spreading her wings would unveil the past
But as broken winged her heart need open to one
One love one truth
One the only one who knew
The anguish of her living lie
Today she must tell herself to fly

OVER AGAIN

The flowers blossom in the setting of the sun
The stars shine when the moon will not rise
The ocean's waves thrust when there’s no wind that blows
And in my soul your love flows

When your head lays and a day is gone
When you wake to the bird’s morning song
In the note of the sparrow and the light of day
Upon your heart my love will play
And in a time of need or simply wonder why
Touch upon your chest and fell me beating inside

Always and forever I am thankful for your love
My best friend, I will love you this life, over again

STRUGGLE FOR CHRISTIANITY

It was a subtle day, as the sun christened the sky. Waves roared across cloudless oceans of blue. Dismal hands lay quiet in the winter’s breeze, as fluttering mischief set on the womb of creation.
In the dark of that night lighting burned the sky white, as firelight across forests of evil. A whisper from the dark spoke a name, Anthony it called. In the light of a hypnotizing sky he was awoken. For neither the day nor the night could bind the yearning for creation.
His strokes flowed as waves over an open sea, and his colors reminisced the twinkle of starlight in storms of madness. Slowly by his hand the eye of wonder would open. And all the land paid homage to see the horizon that screamed to climb over the wall of adversity and destruction.
As morning drew close and all about was the remains of spindrift pages, day woke and in the eye of thunder and in the sweet white sound laid silent the nights breathe. People stood for miles in the desolate morning, and a waited the awaking of the one. Hoping he could cure their wounded bodies of the scars from ill-faded memories of life.
He walked as the whisper of death, but spoke as a sky of angels calling on their souls. Angelic words opened the imprisonment of their abandoned dreams, and they flew homeward. As ghost in the night and shadows of fright sailed into the vapid day people stood to find their way.
For one man spoke their song, one man’s melody rang in their ears and tapped at their will as drummer boys on stage. Gallant beings rose from the welted rose gardens and bloomed into a sweet serenade. A choir of triumph played through the air, as frightened voices raged from the ground. Where lies the night, it has haunted this land for all that is time? Where lies the night that breathed the firelight of our discontent? Where lies the night, which freed our insecurities to roam our hearts?
The day sings a different song. It calls as if we were malevolent slaves to its thoughts. Fight Anthony cries; fight their twisted lust of fear plaguing the mind. Let conscious thought free the soul, and fly my children, fly free.
As shallow as the heart of insanity lay the day and night fought for its place in the mist of their memories. As time bore down and solitude wore its crown the people spoke.
Bring it into the day. Let the sun speak our hopes across the sky as a cult of mercy. For tonight we stand as soldiers of passion and dance as dreamers of belief. We fight in the name of Anthony; this is our battle to be won. As angels of mercy we will lash the sight of the one, the one the claims to hold the key to life begun. No longer shall we endure this life of mystery.
The land was at peace, and all around was silent the threat of harm. For in the mid-summer night souls laid away their frights and opened their hearts to love delight. All would not last in the sovereign state, and by morning hell would open its gate.
Demons flew with a conviction to prey far and near upon the souls of those that lay peaceful in the new day. My, what creatures this devil creates. At his hands they wait to carry out his deed, for his teachings are their creed.
So day came and the land was cold. With icy eyes the people stared frozen from place to place as evil roamed. In solitude of evil no salvation spoke, just stiff beings stood.
The land was dark and shadowed by a devilish eye. Waves roared the sea, as strokes from a clawed hand struck and broke the land. Like a lions rip and tare wounded laid the people this day. As they woke from their imprisoned time they were lost again from reasoning of mind.
Fear was cast as the hand of conflict struck the land. People lashed out against the one, the one who showed them passion begun. What feelings lost they searched to find. What love lost they fight to remember. Cast the spell was the demonic night. Shadowed by evil they laid in sinful light. Day was cold and night was long. The land was dead and life was in a stagnate state. For all the people held no contentment as if they were lost fire flies in day’s light. No one could see the bright of their lives.
As people indulged in the flirting of sin and embellished in all desire there was lighting strike from east to west. Clouds set in, as thunder screamed for the one, the one who could move the land with gentle words and movement of hand. He broke out of the sky as a beam of light waking the souls, which laid in evil’s delight.
He, Anthony spoke again and they fought with what they held true within. That life’s demon cluttered sky filled their lives, and heartache shadowed their light, as moments in time in a sonnet of love spoke the one. This night he would move the land so, and people would know the promises they made on the devil’s time. Shaken and torn with regret they pleaded for their minds to forget.
Out of the ashes of battle in a coliseum of cheers echoed a warrior’s cry, battered and bruised from the night’s hand. On his body existed the scars of the people’s fight. The empire is dead. The might of the land stood to view his strength and honor, reuniting the slaves to roam. Now, we are free cried the barbarian. Honor him, he spoke as Anthony stood. From isle to isle people gazed for his face in the shadowed pit, and as light were day and dark the night, there in the firelight he stood.
The demons cast their spell, but by a man's hand all was well. In triumph tears would not be forgot, for the land was as desert day. It was empty and destroyed. Souls stood to witness the rebellion against their demise. They stood as children in a courtyard of candy, jumping and cheering in the defeat of the one, the one who swore to hold the key to life begun.
In the still after mass existed the true savor that swore nothing and promised only that one man held the power to change their insane truths. To him all they owe, but as shadows turn from the darkness he disappeared. The people never realized that in time so would their memories, for all that is bright becomes dim in shadow light. Cast upon their hearts would be demonic laughter, as demons in time would fly again throughout their nights.
As they struggled to stake their claims to a new belief so would the tyranny of state claim their powers to be. In the name of the father of thought the people preached, but the ear of hate breathed and swallowed all that was spoken. Miss guided souls rallied the begotten truth and sided their lives for the promises of new. Hate had spoken its spell and mischief would take them as thieves robbing their souls of the one.
The land was torn between two rights, those of the people and those of the establishment. The people spoke the ones name, but as waves out to sea and in the forest trees lay for no one to hear others would dismiss their claims.
Without his face, the face of the one to back his claims the people were timid to fight, but time would sing a beautiful tune in the melody of a man as prophets and poets remembered his name. And in time the line in secrecy was spelt, “In the whisper of his name remember why you came.”
The empire crumbled at the feet of the people who believed, but fur some it would rise, and in all their disbelief they could never reach the hand of the one, the one who promised the key to life begun. For false prophets staked their claims as martyrs of justice slay in their names.
Heaven cried on the land and struck vengeance to these soothsayers of man. Who lived with their nightingales and psalms, but never for the people their arms. Century drew near and life breathed throughout the land, when empires became born by the teachings of appointed men.
They spoke his name through tribulation, and in abandonment they swore his teachings to be, and warded off all hate would send near. They were pirates of passion and slaves to the belief that the crucified soldier was the one, the one who held the key to life begun. No longer in mystery would they be, for the door was opened for all the land to see.
And as angels spoke from the sky, angelic words scorned a people’s eye. For in victory lay exhausted the soldiers cry, and in triumph the peopled realized, he was the one.
Though the demons still clutter the sky, there existed now the peoples cry. By the words of the one they would close hells gate. The land cast its spell to quiet evils try. In generation to come they would pass on the key to life begun.

SONGS REVISITED

I’ll Still Love You

I’ve traveled down that lost highway
I’ve went several places I couldn’t stay
But my home still reigns true
Darling miles and miles
I’ll still love you

When the sky rains on me
When the sun shines and I can barley see
On a summer sky
With the blue in your eyes
Over a distant hill I’ll still love you

When I break down in my pain
When I’m struggling with sorrow and shame
When my heads caving in
And my hands are trembling
Through all I do
I’ll still love you

When I stand on new lands
When night falls and day begins
When I’ve lost my way
When I look in the sky that day
When hope rings true
I’ll still love you

I’ll still love you
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’ll hold you tight
I’ll welcome you in my life
I’ll understand
I’ll be your man
Hold my strong ness aside
And love you all my life

PASSION

I will play my music by the sand
Write my lyrics with the blood from my hands
Sing songs and say things that I feel
No one may understand but the lyrics are for real
In my mind I don’t create
My heart and soul finds away
The beat falls like the rain
The words they come the same
Every night and day that I roam
Every mile I walk and when I’m at my home
It is like the log to the fire
Like the match that sparks the flame
Like the lighting and thunder raging down
Tearing my world insane
Often I am lost in the salvation
Of a place I am not here to see
Beyond the moon, the stars, the havens
That is me

I stand on the sand
With no water to run through my drunken hands
Lost in the light of the sober moon
And the song of the high seas
I know soon
My eyes will see
Beyond the hurt, the pain, and another day
That is where I will stay

I see stars in the silent sky
The world lost in my scattered eyes
I see shadows of blue, and sight of gray
Quite to my deaf ears
I still hear
Waters raging on the dark sand
I know beyond the waves, the blue, and the gray
Over stoned shores
Beneath drunken seas
That is me

In a world of clarity
I will never be

DESTINATION

A young child feels the pain, fighting his life’s change
An open book to write, blank pages for his fright
His eyes cry where’s the shame, their hands never came
Alone in the night, tears fall to fill his fright

A young boy feels the need, searching for his life’s creed
Where lies the knighting-gale, singing on Holy Grail
An open door he sees, who holds the lock and key
Alone in his tale, who writes the farewell

A young man feels the love, struggling with what’s above
Time tells about where he’s been, walking alone again
Heaven hell push or shove, tears fly the white dove
An open gate for him, wonders if they’ll let him in

IN A CHILD'S EYE

I remember when I was young
Everything was all right
I remember having fun
Staying awake all night
I remember the yearning
I remember the fright
I remember the burning
Of faded memories tonight
In a child’s eyes
I remember that place
In a child’s eyes
I see my face
In a child’s
I miss living that way
When the world turns down on me
And I can look but barely see
When I’m faded shadow in my world
Lose my possessions lose my girl
I know everything will be ok
When I remember the day
I looked into a child’s eye

05/05/2000

The night was black above the sky turned blue
The ice was building on the hearts we knew
Time was not a friend of mine
I’ve been running till I’m running behind
The day turned standing still as I stared
When I looked she wasn’t there
The water raged from east to west
The skies lit up like lighting and thunder set
There was a terrible feeling all around
People crying souls lying on the ground
The ashes settled and the night became still
I was standing alone again against my will
Distant to my eye a light begin to shine
Carry me home oh sweet light of mine
I can’t run any more I can’t find the floor
I can’t move my feet they do not listen to me
I can’t hide any more I can’t find the door
I can’t turn my head it leaves me where I stare
Tonight in cold sweet and broke down tears
In a body twisted in the pain over the years
I looked up at the light from the other side
It was spelling your name across the sky
With wings of love I flew high
I flew with all I knew
I ran when my body wanted to stand
I looked when my eyes didn’t want to see
I was free when I saw you looking at me
When you looked at me
The sun came up and the sky turned crystal blue
Waves went away lighting drew back in perfect hue
No one lying around no more silent sound
Green trees and flowers grew
And then I knew that I loved you

SHADOWED DREAMS

You and I, lost souls we ride tonight
In shadow and dim of light
In fear of frightful fright
Winds of change free our minds
As lovers we’re lost in time
The sky cries an evil sound
The day lies down
All around laughter and cries
For the love in our eyes
We hold the key
To a life they seldom see
Mysterious in their ways
They felt our new day
The sun set on the ground
The world kept spinning round
Shadows feared the fright
For lovers laid in sinful light
Mischief set in its spell
Twisting and turning all wasn’t well
We danced as devils in play
In the night we’d find our way
We walked and we roamed
Days drew us far from our home
In new land and mist of night
In shallow dreams we lived our lives
In shallow dreams we lived a lie
And fought the fright and found the night
And walked the line and praised the stars
They were hours and they were days
They were power and they were praise
But moon was not a friend of yours and mine
We got lost in drunken states of mind
Days spilled on you and me we couldn’t see
But we walk the moon he lights it for our life
Soon shadows disappear in day’s light
Nights a friend of yours and mine
We walk this plane
We walk our minds
We find our name
It dose not settle our peace of mind
It does not free the winds of change that bind
It does not hollow the feeling of fright
It does not calm our desires tonight

REASON FOR IT ALL

Sometimes it is hard to find
Answers to questions of the mind
Often no answer is in sight
But remember you have this life
Birds serenade in choirs of song
Trees change color as time goes on
Clouds soar high in the evening sky
Waters rage when the moon will not rise
Lava may spill on your mind
Waters may flood your soul to many times
Lighting might strike insane
Clouds might bring to much rain
The sun may get covered by black sky
The day may not rise
Shadows may fill your silent world
Echoes of pain might bring a twirl
Insanity may rage beneath the armor of man
But I still see souls that stand
They fight like raging machines
In the bottom of the belly driving man insane
They fly across the sky with wings
Never to leave and always to bring
They whispers vapid breaths that never rest
Standing on the other side
There stands the reason for you and I
It may be hard sometimes to find
But open your eyes
It’s right there in the back of your mind
Life can twist and turn
But in the mirror shadows of your faded eyes
May leave you alive
When judgment falls and the day begins
With no night and no end
Remember when its time to say goodbye
You only take what you’ve done in this life
You may have walked many roads
You may have endured far too much to feel this old
But tonight when your life is as clear as the night’s sky
Tonight when you search for reasons to stand alive
When the dark side sets in
When it’s time for courage to burn within
Raise your head up high and remember why
You live this life

LOVE DELIGHT

We spent a lifetime
In crazy dreams
We fought nighttime
For what peace could bring
All our lifetime
Has been shadowed dreams
All our lifetime
We searched for what life means

A tired smile, a child’s cry
A dismal day of deceit
Preying upon our souls
Living for our lives to turn cold
The whisper of his name
Reminded us of why we came
Night was black and calmly dark
In the day we’d find our start
We’d walk this life of dreams
We’d reach for all that was seen
Night would be a friend
Day would begin
Poetic laughter of cheers
Eloquent words we’d hear
Night would cast its light
Moon raged in firelight
On the ground stood a warrior of pride
Raising his hands he told us we were alive
He spoke our name and we could see
Strength and honor was our friend
As slaves we were born to roam again
On sweet canvas of moonlight
With heartfelt feelings of love delight

FLY AWAY

Hold my pain
Feel my strength
Be my light
When the dark sets in
Hold my heart
Feel my love
Be my wings
When I’ve had enough
Fly me away from here
From the darkness I fear
Deep down in my bones
Won’t you fly me home

ALL I WANT

The calm before the storm
The wind before the rain
The lighting before the thunder strike
The sadness before the pain
The day before the night
The smile before the kiss
The tears before holding tight
The years we’ve missed
The darkness before the light
The longing for the past
The feelings will they last
All I want and all I am
Is to be your friend again

WILL YOU HOLD THE MOON

Hey girl standing over there. Remember your thoughts and you fears. Think about them in the back of your mind. The days only begun it is the first time, and you’re shattered by your pain, as another victim of this foolish game. Your eyes don’t show the hurt inside, but the day rather rise then see you fade in time.
So remember the moon it lights your life, and shallow dreams they are yours tonight. Hold this thought inside your mind. Fight this feeling one last time
A friend I see in your eyes. A friend I see little to cry. Shadowed world holds on tight. Shadows take her home tonight
Will you hold the moon? Will you walk in its light? Will you fly across the sky? Or will you lie down and die. Close your eyes and take my hand. I will walk you to this new land.
Will you not shadow your pain? Will you fight not to be a victim of the game? Rainfall is on your life and lightning is coming down, but in these times you’re still alive. When the world beats down and you feel its grasp, and there is nowhere to run and you ask for a helping hand to hold you close the answers become question for you.
Will you hold the moon? Will you walk in its light? Will you take my hand tonight, or will the shadows dim your light.
Fright is on your mind like a raging machine. It breaks your body down I see the pain again. You cry out inside. Are you walking alone in this life? Rip and shout in your mind your body driven destination time. Far away in your pieces of heart will you ever find your piece of mind?
The door does not hold the key, and you’re locked from this place you see. It is far from your eyes but in your mind you’ve seen it a thousand times. It breaks you down you feel your heart. It breaks you down its ready to start. It fights with what you feel inside as you ride this lonesome ride.
The shadows do not say your name. They’re the victims of your game. It frightens your feelings inside of a world you never lived this life. Will you run or will you hide. Will you fight to stay alive, back to where you found your heart? It runs as your mission to start.
Will you hold the moon? Will you walk in its light? Will you take my hand tonight, or will you run in fright?

HOW LOW

Life handed me the bottle
I drunk down and I swallowed
I’m on the outside inside I’m so hollow
I spent nights I spent days
In a purple haze
I spent evenings I spent mornings losing my way
It’s a sorry world it’s a dam shame
When a man breaks to the bottle again
Life’s shattered dreams he falls to the floor
Like he hasn’t got any more:
Life to live
Soul to give
Strength to hold
Feelings as he grows old
I’m drunk again
On my knees I know it is a sin
Locked with in
I can’t fight again
The feeling inside
On this roller-Costa ride
It’s a sorry night broke down in tears
Where went the years
I’m packing today
I’ve got to get away
I’m down again
I search but can’t find
The course in my life
I am driving blind
Will you let me in
Will you break the sin
Of this curse and chains
Shackled in my mind
Locked in my brain
Driving me insane
Lost nights lost days
Lost every where I turn everything I say
It’s said and hollow
It’s blue and still
These caged bars
Alone I drop and kneel
Feel the world doesn’t understand
I am a drunken man

ACROSS EMPTY SKIES

The ship setting sail
This test we must not fail
In the horizon off in the sky
Beyond a place where the fields have died
I am lost in what I felt
Words make no sense sight means nothing
It’s just another side of my regret
You would stay to my ambition
Only to discover my fright
It rides across the plains of empty skies
Settling down on the shore of the solid land
Only in a place for away from salvation
Destined to be together by a greater man
The darkness shadows the land
Only light I see, is far from me
Walking in the days I roam and the nights I sleep
Never to find my home to be
Silent to my ears as I stand on the end of the shore
Distant in my mind I don't know even more
Words made no sense and I seemed not to rhyme
This may be my last time

A NEW LIFE

She cries at the night
She struggles to fight
For love and a subtle life
Where her heart can stand
Alone on the eyes of man
Sacred to passion, honest to truth
Promised, the dreams of her youth
She’s wrapped in the sheets
She’s dreaming we’ll meet
Scattered thoughts and shattered mind
Promises bought on the devil’s time
If he’d let go for a night
Then her soul would be right
She stands on solid ground
The world keeps spinning round
Crying eyes and hope in her soul
Waiting for life to unfold
Asking forgiveness in her tears
Drowning in sorrow over the years
Won’t you let me through
To the girl I never new
And look down on me and lend me a hand
Take my soul and let it fly over lands
Make my heart cry in the night
And grant my dream of a new life

UNTITLED

The lights or dim
It feels like the darks closing in
The walls don’t show my face
I can’t hide in this place
And when I try to run
I’m the only one
Dark moonlight on my canvas of love
Sorrow taste from the wind above
The days I roam bring me far from home
Will the rain cast down a spell on me
Or will it bring love I never see
I wake the dirt falls from my eyes
A horizon climbs the darkest of skies
Where will I go
What will I see
Whom do I know
How long will it be
Now the midnight wind has whispered my buzz
It’s got me wondering what it was
Like stale taste on my lips
In the midnight hour and the darkest day
In the wind of fright I find my way
As thunder strikes and lighting calls
And days run long will I know it all
With shallow tears and shadows of fear
When darkness is a friend and I start over again
When all life’s over will I do it again

JOURNAL REFLECTIONS

LISTEN

Distant to my time, years beyond my tongue, on the palette of man’s imagination, whispers of my yesteryear shall awaken. In classrooms and in theaters all over the world, one day, they will be listing to me.
After my head has quietly laid in the bliss of heavens light, echoed will be works of art, of passion, of love from my soul, and they shall endure my death.
I wish these subtle words to ring as the bell of my heart upon the soul of my fellow man.
When our minds are distraught our hearts inevitable will falter. The faltering of this heart shall lead to our souls decay. This soul decaying shall slowly unravel the fabric of subtle life, and this life will twist and turn through time growing further from is resting place, and shall be born again to roam.
Open your soul to all the passion inside of you, beyond any place you have ever known to exist, past your heart and your mind in to a world of misunderstanding, a place of which you know not where you are. Just drift through days of flight and amazing dreams of amazing nights. Let your mind disappear and your body shall follow. You’re now floating amongst the air, in the clouds, above the sky of blue. In your passion you realize that you are alive.
You learn to appreciate all the gifts, which are given to us. Not the literal state for which they exist, but the lines behind them, the passion, the love of music from years past, of poetry from the beginning of time. These things install gifts within each of our minds. They allow us to create, to dream, and to go to a place that very few have ever been. They allows us to be alive
Not all of us are gifted with the greatest of gifts, but all of us do have the one gift, which is greater then them all. That is love; love of what ever may intrigue you. Love of things you cannot explain:

To watch a bird slowly soar the evening sky
The winds of change tickle the branches of trees
The clouds dancing in pattern bordered in blue high
The sun laying its head to sleep
The witch’s hour amongst the air
The deer grazing in morning woods
The rabbit as it stares
The way some one looks
The way they touch
The way they feel
The way they make you feel
The flowers
The fires
The flames

These are things that create such beauty, and it is beauty that cannot be explained. There is nothing to be taught nothing to be said. There are no words to explain, because the true beauty that lies amongst us all are the feelings we posses. Listen to a song and enjoy the passion it brings. Read a poem and forget about life. Let your self disappear a moment out of time. Just drift in that dimension which lies:
In the words
In the music
In the passion
In all our lives
PEOPLE, LEARN TO LIVE BEFORE YOU DIE

SADLY TRUE

Hate seems to rage vigorously with in the minds of sovereign
They have lost their meaning they say, have they ever held one
Inadequate, abandoned by reason, distant to just time
Where lies the hand that installs, where lies the heart
Where does the truth lye, why has it not burned a flame
Aspiration and dreams or forgotten traits to those who hate
What they see what they hear, or maybe simply who they are
Can the minds of destruction ever tame the fires
Or may they be burdened with an eternity of demise

In the intricate time of severance from evil lies a voice
A voice that reasons out the dwelling doubt
When that voice lies somber a wrong inevitable becomes right
They than hold dear the right side of wrong
Just, in their being sits a convincing conscious
If there is not two one will reign as reason
Where does the voice of right scream
That is the only time to truly change
As ears of hate listen, remember well, they do listen still

ON VENTURA'S EARLY HEART

The speaker of these poems is a man who has tried to write, and for all his effort he sits thoughtless. His eyes are of the day’s events. They clutter his mind. His body sits in a relaxed state as if the world were as one. His voice is of relief, as words he speaks to the night. His demur is one of a man who wishes the world well, and in his mind that world is peaceful through his words. His face smiles at the comfort of settled souls. There is an air of confidence as his words calm the day’s events.
This man is a man of talent, but for all his talent he is humbled. He wishes no praise, no acknowledgment, just a finished thought in his mind. He is a good man, a man of character. His writings tell of peace, as in all trials and tribulation the stroke of his hand relaxes the adversity.
Life is this mans will, will to love, to live, to make all wonders answered. He enjoys people. The way they move, converse, associate, and their undying drive to survive. He is a watcher, an observer of life. In his time he will touch many. He will hold some. He will love few. In the end many will have loved him. To himself he is an average man with a hobby, but his mind lingers memories of all he touches.
There are symbolic jesters that speak of wealth, but truth is discovered deeper. In the words lay a man who lives a moderate life. His possessions consist of things that most would consider worthless, but passion is his reason. He loves the nature of emotion, and things that move him exist around him. He holds material things only as necessary. His life is tame in the day, but night is when his true work begins. His nights are filled with expressions of passion. He writes, paints, draws, and creates. His career is only his means through life.
He works within the field that brings him in contact of many. His true work is his methods of expression, which pay him little notoriety and no wages. His confidants are individuals who live a normal life. His friends are people who know his passions. His cause is simply to move all that is possible. He challenges this cause less to none, only moving those who see his passion. There dose however lie a confidence to touch many. That becomes his submission in the words of his poem. His concept of life keeps many around him. His outlook of life is the irrational that people seek.
God is his source of values. Gratitude for his talent is placed in prayer. He believes in right and wrong, there is no in-between. He lives as a soldier fighting for humility. He enjoys competition that raises the will to succeed, and wishes it existed more in the world. He wants people to act as one forming the future through the actions they perform daily. He believes society views life by the burdens that are laid on them, and that morality is becoming a faded memory. He asks why or people blind to the big picture, which tells the tail.
He often speaks into the night, after trying to write of the day’s events. He reflects on his art. He spends the moment realizing his will. This is a moment when all he has done is brought to light. He remembers why he writes. He spends the night felling as if all he does is for the comforting of others. He also is awoken to the light of contentment, which says there is no money, praise, or stage that could compare to the self-gratification of completing his thoughts through methods of art. As his frustration of cramped hands build, he opens his voice to answer the lacking of meaning. All he has done has satisfied him so, yet the time has come where the epitome of his satisfaction has been reached. Now his soul cries for an awaking to answer his talent. “Why dose art so great lye somber in a world of genius, held in one amongst many yearning, why then dose it burn so?”  For all reflected, there is now the asking for more then a single ear.
The appearance of his text is in such a way it shows of memory. He spoke and then he wrote. He felt he should write his effortless thought. The words came to him, and in the simplistic line arraignment this is shown. He was more impressed by his words then his style. His words are chosen as if they flowed from pure in prove. He held no meaning or thought. There was a subconscious voice, which rang true the words he needed to her that night. The conclusion can be drawn that he unexpectedly spoke to his self and then wrote what he could remember. He speaks clearly through his words, talking literally leaving the reader with a precise understanding of his craft and sullen art. He explains why he does it and what affect it has on in his life. His lines rhyme as a poet who is starring into the mirror or the moonlight talking to a nonexistent figure and letting the words flow in the simplest of terms, rhymes.
His poem takes place as waves of the ocean or softly rolling over his feet. His mind is at peace in a cloudless sky of the early a.m. light. The moon is full and asks for his reply to his pages, which blow down the miles of sand. His fidgeting hand is morbid as he sits in his chair on the coast in solitude away from vacationing shores. The night is his friend. The soft reflection on the water inspires his past, as he looks into the sky. Stars clutter this sky as words clutter his mind. He finds the one thing alone, separated from all in the sky, the moon. He speaks words separated from all those in his mind. A night of loss words and time turn into the first true art he has ever done, for this night he spoke of himself, not passer bys. In this scene he finds the greatest work he has ever achieved, because for the first time in his art his soul was the inspiration, not his interpretations of others. He speaks to the night answering the question of why he is blocked in his mind. He asks and answers in the same words, opening and closing the doors of wonder.
He speaks because he is forced to. Forced through his will to create and his stagnate state which now haunts him. He is forced to, because for all his days he has spoke of others and never reviewed his own meaning. He is forced to by the desire he holds. If his mind will not tell him the stillness of his craft will. He then finds a reason for his thoughts, believing their from God his own words will motivate the reason he walks as one of the living.
His poem exemplifies the fact that we live our lives through the lives of others never finding our cause or meaning. We are lost souls guided by the leadership of others. When in our nights, as we lay to sleep in solitude from the world we discover our dreams. When morning comes we have forgotten. His poem reminds that inevitably our passion will awake. As it dose we can ether write the chapters to our life accordingly, or we can fade to practicing our craft in the safety of our dreams. We must carry our passions into the day and shine them bright as the sun.

SONGS: LYRICAL INDULGENCE

DAYS BEFORE I AGED

Days Before I Aged
[30 to 32]

Back To Life

Tired now and so alone
All the feelings fade away
Tried so hard for to long
No one hears what I say
Slowly they pass me by
While inside I’ve died
The hand of God lies before me
With all his glory
All alone for me to see
As a thousand angles hold me
While the Lord sold me
All alone I feel them breathe

How long must I hide, this rage inside
How far can I fade away, before you save me
When did you bid goodbye, and close your eyes
I’m still standing here, I haven’t died
I need you to bring me back to life

I close my eyes to the sound of silence
It’s over now, the wasted days
With intention I drift away
Darkness rings the bells
Of what was my mind
One moment I was alive
Silence stole my life
Does anyone feel the art
Must I die for heavens remarks
Only their eyes hear me
Only their stage heals me

How long must I hide, this rage inside
How far can I fade away, before you save me
When did you bid goodbye, and close your eyes
I’m still standing here, I haven’t died
I need you to bring me back to life

My soul was given
I’m stripped of living
I’m screaming
But no one’s listing
My voice is numb

How long must I hide, this rage inside
How far can I fade away, before you save me
When did you bid goodbye, and close your eyes
I’m still standing here, I haven’t died
I need you to bring me back to life

I Can’t Let Go of You

Someday clouds are going to come
And it will all be done
Was it worth all that you gave
Did you love, were you afraid
When the music starts to play
And into angels you start to fade
Did you do enough, to rise above
The heartache when we part
Waiting for your new start

I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you
I’m standing here, I can feel you breathe
Every inch of me, is longing to leave
But I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you

Everyday the echo of time reminds me
Sitting here alone is the best I’ll ever be
Without you I feel the storm
The rain falls outside my window
Holding on to a glass
I spend all my days in the past
When I turn my lights down
In the memories my head drowns
Everything takes me in
Nights over, day begins

I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you
I’m standing here, I can feel you breathe
Every inch of me, is longing to leave
But I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you

You belong to me
I belong to you
One moment in time takes you away
And leaves me standing in the fray
It’s all but over now
And I’m running for you
I’m searching for you
I’m holding to you
But I can’t let go of you

I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you
I’m standing here, I can feel you breathe
Every inch of me, is longing to leave
But I can’t let go of you
I can’t let go of you

Before the Love

I saw you walk away
While I was holding on
You had nothing to say
I guess I’ll just be alone
Whishing you’d stay
Here with me, feeling me
Like it used to be
It can be again
Turn around, I’ll beg you inn

Into the heart of me, we’ll find better days
Into the start of us, where memories fade
Into the arms of us, better than I am
As good as it was, back to us
Before the love
[Unfinished]

Back to Us

I’m going crazy in this place
I’m tired of being here, torn by your face
I’m staring at you and all these people, are looking at me
Like I am a disease, because I’d rather be with you
I can’t spend one more minuet here, I can’t stand them
All their demands and dealing in fake lives
I just want you alone without the lies
Of everybody trying to be somebody
I just want to be nobody with you
Feeling your lips, your arms, your smiling embrace
I don’t care about the race of life
I just want one moment with you tonight

I miss running through the fields
Where life was kind
Where memories put a smile on the mind
Times better than these
Young and in love, your all I see
Just you and I, that’s all we need
Remember the love
And let’s bring it back to us
[Unfinished]

Better Side of Me

You vanished from my life
Leaving pictures of rage in my head
While delusions of grandeur cast me for dead
Was it just a curse to hide the truth
Of my burdened youth
I needed you through the fight
Holding my broken trials of life
Am I ready to be by myself
When destiny ask me to die
And my demons place me on the shelf
Did you leave me enough inside

Leave me for dead
How am I suppose to survive
Going crazy in my head
Delusions I’m trying to hide
And when they look at me
Will they see, the better side of me

I don’t know if I can I handle this alone
To me you’re dead and gone
But I’ll have to try
With the memories of our time
If I see you again, will you raise me high
Was it your intention to make me cry
To give me strength, and just move along
I’ll have to try this on my own
With no promises, I’m not that strong
Can I continue the fight
Walking with gods and demons tonight

Leave me for dead
How am I suppose to survive
Going crazy in my head
Delusions I’m trying to hide
And when they look at me
Will they see, the better side of me

I’ll see you when I die
When I throw it all away
And just give up the fight
I hope you’re satisfied
I hope to make you proud
With angles singing loud
Where your ears can see
What you’ve done to me

Leave me for dead
How am I suppose to survive
Going crazy in my head
Delusions I’m trying to hide
And when they look at me
Will they see, the better side of me

More than I Believe

I saw him crying, sitting there
A thousand memories and just one prayer
Oh lord he sighed, a heart broke goodbye
And then he whispered, take me with her

Is there more to life than this
Is there a light at the end of the darkness
Is there more to living then dying
Are there wings for me to start flying
There’s got to be, got to be
More than this to me, than I believe

I saw him with his family, staring into space
Talking about the old days, and moments of grace
Like a child lost in winter, crying for the spring
Deaf to the world, his body begin to sing

Is there more to life than this
Is there a light at the end of the darkness
Is there more to living then dying
Are there wings for me to start flying
There’s got to be, got to be
More than this to me, than I believe

I saw him lying, a smile on his face
Quiet to the world, with dignity in place
So many years past, he’s free at last
Oh lord I sighed, a peaceful goodbye
And then I whispered, he’s finally with her

And I know there’s more to life than this
There’re a million lights at the end of the darkness
There’s more to living then dying
There’re a thousand wings to spread and start flying

And she’ll be his wings
He was her strength
And they’ll be everything
That I believe

And there will be, there will be
More than this for me, than I believe

Soldier’s Cry

I want the world to be one, but a song can’t heal the scars
I look to the sky for the sun, but see only the fog of war
Is it a revolution, or miss guided faith
Is it evolution, or a new retro age
Where soldiers die, and nations turn their heads
While a million survive, and tyranny is dead
Hippocrates of a nation, none to cast a stone
Turn their tongues to damnation, while soldiers march on

We all want peace, but it’s not easily earned
We all want love, but often fell the age of yearn
We all want a better way, to ease the pain
But in every battle, men must walk with shame
It’s not easy to turn the page, I saw at a tender age
Momma preaching in the church, where daddy did his work on an ivory stage
I still hear the songs he played, while soldiers marched on

[Play Twice]
Stand by me
Lean on me
And come together
To change the world

So raise them up
Raise up those signs
Left your hands
And holds your heads high
And remember that soldier’s cry

Stand by me
Lean on me
And come together
To change the world

Stand by me
Lean on me
And come together
To change the world

All My Life

If this night, this time
I lay my head softly to rest
And the dream of this heart
Quietly drifts to bed
In that moment, when all my days are gone
Into reaching hands taking me home
I know, I will not be alone
Because, you loved me

This morning, with this light
Shinning from a new sun
Saving me, waking me
Of where I’ve been, who I am
With one chance, just one gift
Holding forever, the memory of me
When you loved me

If my body, my soul
Should lay a sweet goodbye
Don’t cry for me
If my heart should lastly part
Think of me, how I lived this life
I will not be afraid, I’ll be alright
Because, I loved you all my life

Let Me Fly

If I were falling
Searching for the ground
Would you hold me above water
Will you watch me down
Or rise me up, with rope in hand
Pulling me to shore, helping me stand
Show me tomorrow, carry me away
Remind me of yesterday
Would you give me faith

Will you hold my hand, in these times of change
Will you wake my soul, by the light of your name
Bringing down the darkness, so I can see the light
Will you free my wings, letting me fly tonight

If clouds of doubt fall over me
Dirt tracks fade from under my feet
[Unfinished]

Over Soon

You spin your life on hopes and dreams
Walking the straight and narrow, and you believe
Till tragedy strikes, taking it all away
Leaving you standing in the fray

Just hold on, fading in the flood
You’re not alone, there’s an angel above
When it feels like everything’s gone
If you believe, he’ll be there to take you home

You lost your friends along the way
The road seems long as the bus drives away
Leaving you on foreign ground, standing alone again
The days all but over, the battle just begins

Just hold on, fading in the flood
You’re not alone, there’s an angel above
When it feels like everything’s gone
If you believe, he’ll be there to take you home

It’ll be over soon, vesting in the light
Of a lonely hotel room, child, it’ll be over soon

Just hold on, fading in the flood
You’re not alone, there’s an angel above
When it feels like everything’s gone
If you believe, he’ll be there to take you home

Wasted Life

I’ve faded to a better man
In the days I’ve been without you
It’s hard now to find my feet to stand
All alone beneath the gallows
When my life comes to call an I leave it all behind
Will I call our memories just wasted time
And when they set me free, can I live for a thousand years
Can’t I just be me, or must I cry a million tears

In my mind, in my mind
I can’t let go of you
Even when I try
I can’t live with me
Even if I fight
I can’t hide beneath the walls
Of my wasted life

[Unfinished]

Mike’s Song

She sat a the table
I was willing and able
Thinking this would be my last time
Then she put her hand in mine
Pulled me up from the table
Ready for a show saying lets go
We then walked in the room
And the rest [laugh] you should know

[Oh] Monday came way to soon
I just wanted to stay
At a hotel in San Jose
A place called the Del Ray

An hour later, she was sitting at the table
With a fellow willing and able
Breaking my heart for the last time
I thought I could change her
Thought I could rearrange her
Thought I’d be her last goodbye
Man [laugh] what a fool was I

[Oh] Monday came way to soon
I just wanted to stay
At a hotel in San Jose
A place called the Del Ray

Where the senoritas
Can take your heart in just one night
And when you meet them
The next day you can make them your wife
[Laugh] over there

[Oh] Monday came way to soon
I just wanted to stay
At a hotel in San Jose
A place called the Del Ray

Forgiveness

It’s over now, what have I done
I’m falling apart
I’m colder now, standing outside the sun
When did it all start
Was it worth all that I gave
Did I love, was I afraid
Is there anything left in me to save
One moment in time, I can’t rewind
It’s over now

And I run for the fire line
I can see the other side
There waiting for me
I close my eyes with my sins to hide
I leave it all behind
Without forgiveness, I can’t be me
Without forgiveness, I can’t be free

[Unfinished]

Keep You Strong

When times between us are hard
And love starts to fade
The touch doesn’t feel so tender
And we’re all that remains
When goodbye begins to call
And our tears are sure to fall
I will not leave you lonely, you will not be alone
Even if I’m the only, I will keep you strong

When their eyes look upon us
And beauty becomes so defined
Days may be hard to remember
But the dream will remind us
Though commitment binds you and me
And doors closing are all we see
They will not leave us lonely, we will not be alone
Even if their the only, they will keep you strong

So many changes to face
Often more than we can take
If we could turn back the years
And let I fade all away
We’d be so lonely, and so alone
And who’d be there to keep us strong

Time for Me

I work to dam hard to feel this old
Days I couldn’t age drift away
And there goes my life
I remember twenty, it felt like yesterday
I’m thirty now and forty feels a day away
I remember my father’s hands, my mothers smile
I remember the day they watched me drive away

But the moments in between
Are faded memories
Oh lord won’t you, save a little time for me

I remember single times, out all night
I remember the day I feel in love
Her lovely smile and our simple life
I remember their faces when they came into the world
A beautiful boy and my lovely girl

But the moments in between
Are faded memories
Oh lord won’t you, save a little time for me

Why Won’t They Remember

If there is a God
Why don’t they remember
That quiet dreadful morning
I lay buried in September
I thought I saw the light
For a while
Till they forgot my life
Passing me by
A nation as one separated now
Days of humility faded now

It took a storm to wake them
And as the waters rolled back
So did their intention again

Lonely

I cried this evening
When my life begin to change
Broken hearts are so hard to mend
My old love and my best friend
Leaving me lonely again
Leaving me lonely again

Everyone’s dressed in black
Faces I know
Will the years ever turn back
Memories I’ve saved
Will the ever fade
To leave me lonely again
Leaving me lonely again

My tears are done
I’m alone
No one to take me home
I’m the only
Ones who lonely

It was just a truck ride to Memphis
Just another Saturday night
Drinking beers at a local bar
He closed his eyes for a moment
And in that moment he took their lives
Leaving me lonely again
Leaving me lonely again
I’m lonely on my own
